How do I age and distress a pressed tin/metal frame?

The mirror frame was faux finished in a soft ivory color with green and few other colors underneath. I removed the original faux finish and now I’m lost as to how to get that dark ebony distressed look.

First spray pant it in the “main” color-then take it outside while the wind is blowing and add the gold or silver touches. The wind will put a light touch of the color on it and make it look distressed. I have done this alot and I’ve really been pleased with the way it turns out.
